CAPTURING EPIC LANDSCAPES IN UTAH.
With Utah as his backyard since birth and his dad’s love for documenting life events on camera, it seems as if Austin Winnie’s path to landscape photography was carved out for him from the very beginning. At 16, he realized his true passion for the art during the solo hikes he would take when fog would blanket the mountains—and his need to capture it all. He remembers those moments as 'the most peaceful' he’s ever experienced.
From a drone shot over snowy peaks to final light at an overlook and a middle-of-the-night time-lapse in the desert, every image Austin creates is influenced by the beauty around him—especially in his home state.
'After traveling to many states in the U.S., I’ve realized how unique Utah is, and my love for it grew even stronger.' His favorite part? 'You can travel one to two hours in any direction and you might think you're in a different part of the world because the landscapes can change so drastically here.'
Even as a native to Utah, Austin has yet to explore every corner. So, we sent him on a trip to hike to Delicate Arch—a spot he’s never been to—and shoot some photos for our Outdoor Series of speakers. And like practically every other Utah destination, it didn’t disappoint. His take on it: 'Seeing Delicate Arch at sunrise was more than I could imagine. You can’t describe the beauty and feeling you get you are there.'
